Frequently Asked Questions

During my appointment, will I see a psychiatrist, psychologist, or therapist?

Depending on your needs, you may see one or all three. Our psychiatric services are mostly geared toward medication management for the various psychiatric disorders and addiction related disorders. Our psychological services include therapy and testing. You will be evaluated, and based on your evaluation and your own comfort, an appropriate treatment plan will be created which may include psychiatric, psychological, and psychotherapeutic evaluations and treatments.

I made an appointment, and I saw the psychiatrist, why was I not prescribed any medications?

At Core Psych, PLLC, we generally have an initial consultation which is a 15-20 minute appointment in order to ensure that we are an appropriate clinic for you and for you to ensure that you feel comfortable seeking treatment with us. This initial consultation can be thought of as a trial and you will be scheduled to return for a formal intake within 1-2 weeks after the initial consultation. Medication changes and treatment plans will be decided upon after the formal intake.

If I have a previous diagnosis of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), can I transfer my care to Core Psych, PLLC?

Yes, you may schedule an appointment and we are always accepting new patients. We can manage your ADHD, but will need to conduct a full psychological and psychiatric evaluation, including but not limited to cognitive and personality testing.

Do you offer addiction services?

We do offer addiction services. The bulk of our addiction services deal with dual diagnoses, such as a mental health issue along with an addiction issue. We offer several treatments for substance use disorders, including individual counseling, group therapy, and medication assisted treatment (e.g. Suboxone and other buprenorphine medications, naltrexone, and benzodiazepine taper). All of our addiction services are done in a culturally sensitive and appropriate manner, geared toward the individual needs of our patients.

If I start treatment with your clinic, who will have access to my records?

We DO NOT release any records related to your treatment at Core Psych, PLLC without your written AND verbal consent. Privacy is of highest priority for us, and we are HIPAA compliant. We also use an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) to ensure your information is safe and secure.
